Rocko's Modern Life
Overview
Rocko is a wallaby with an Australian accent. Each episode shows a struggle through his average, yet modern life; he has pesky neighbors (two frogs), a dangerously malfunctioning vacuum, and a love for his best friends (a turtle and a cow). Though cartoons are typically considered childish, Rocko's Modern Life is refreshingly smart. Creator Joe Murray said that he and his writers wrote each episode not for a target audience, but to make themselves laugh. You'll find childish humor, adult humor, and even some irony/satire to entertain all audiences. The show was originally born out of a short film made by the creator about a man and his dysfunctional dog. Hence, the main characters Rocko and his semi-blind, dumb dog Spunky were created. Today this classic is for the most part discarded, though Nickelodeon will air some cheap re-runs during the holidays. Do not worry; you can still purchase all of the episodes contained on 8 DVD's on eBay. Each 30-minute block on Nickelodeon consisted of two episodes.
