Garry Trudeau's 70s take (via his Roland Burton Hedley) on Roone Arledge's first move at ABC News: the creation of World News Tonight. WNT had a "tag-team" of anchors: Frank Reynolds (in Washington, DC), Max Robinson (in Chicago), Peter Jennings (overseas; briefly the "boy anchor" in the 60s). Was there a fourth? It followed ABC's "Waterworld": using star power to boost ratings, via the megabuck signing of Barbara Walters. Eventually the show was downsized: it's now Jennings' gig.
