A 1966 song, written by Steve Cropper and Eddie "Knock on Wood" Floyd, one of the early Memphis recordings done by the Wicked (or Wicket, for those cricket fans having a bout of tinnitus) Wilson Pickett with some of the the Stax Records house musicians. This paragraph is Under Construction.
It inspired other such song titles in later decades, including The Time's "777-9311" (written by The Artist Formerly Pseudonymously Known as Jamie Starr), Squeeze's "853-5937", and that Tommy Tutone chestnut, "867-5309".
