Alain Robert is a talented rock climber born on August 7, 1962, nicknamed Spiderman. The diminutive Frenchmen is famous for the solo ascent of skyscrapers or buildering (a pun on bouldering). He uses no safety equipment; all he takes with him is a chalk bag and his climbing shoes. It's usually a race to get to the top before the local police figure out what he's doing and try to stop him. Robert has climbed more than 50 buildings. Here are some of them¹:

Citibank Citicorp Center (Chicago) (July 1994)
Canary Wharf (London) (1995) He made it to the 47th floor 50 feet from the top before the police got him.
Centrepoint Tower (Sydney) (Feb 1997) Only got 500 feet up before being arrested.
Petronas Towers (Kuala Lumpur) (March 20 1997) He made it to the 60th floor before the police got him.

1. These ascents are all documented but that's not the case for all of the climbs claimed for him in the media. There is some doubt about, for instance, whether he really did climb the Empire State Building in 1994.
