A motion picture released in 1988 by Twentieth Century Fox starring James Caan and Mandy Patinkin. It was the
basis for a good, but short-lived television series of the same name.
Los Angeles becomes home to a race of
extraterrestrials from a crashed vessel. Humans dub these new citizens "Newcomers", but to
bigots and
purists they are derisively referred to as "slags".
The movie (and series) focuses on one Newcomer's experience of being the LAPD's first non-human
detective and his and his family's adjustment into
human dominated
society.
