In the Alpha Complex, the biggest problem are the constant communist sabotages and treacherous treasons. The other big problem is the mutants invasion. Mutants are traitors.
The Computer controls the birth rate. The Computer is always right. So, how could it make errors with the human DNA? How did mutation come to be so widespread in the Alpha Complex? Obviously, there is a source somewhere for all those DNA problems. Well, we won't tell you.
It's a secret. Maybe The Computer knows the answer, but he sure won't tell it. Why? Because commie mutant traitors are everywhere.
A lot of citizens have theories. But, you should already know that, theories are treason, just like rumors and not bathing each day.

Here are a few treasonous theories by Alpha Complex citizens :

• An interference by benevolent aliens.
• Side-effects of pullution and food additives
• Genetic experiements carried by the R&D department.
• Radiation from a global nuclear war (contradicts the current Alpha Complex history, written by The Computer himself, but this is a common legend based on trashy treasonous post-holocaust fiction)
• The Earth's passage through a cloud of cosmic dust
• The overconsumption of radium dials' watches
• Long exposure to bland video programming
• Commie sabotage in the DNA bank of The Computer

Some citizens registered their mutant power. That doesn't mean they are not traitors, just that they can move in the Alpha Complex without being shooted on sight. A registered mutant is a citizen who knows that he possesses a treasonous power, and selflessly confesses his flaw to The Computer. Registered mutants must wear AT ALL TIME a special uniform with yellow stripes. Yellow is fun.
Certains powers are so dangerous to The Computer that revealing them would only results in your immediate termination. Termination is not fun.
