Also: Anne Shirley the actress, originally Dawn O'Day, who starred in the original 1934 Anne of Green Gables movie (directed by George Nichols) and changed her name permanently from then on. She enjoyed a prolific film career spanning 20 years, including Farewell My Lovely and Stella Dallas.
