Apples and Spice

Under the blue velvet sky and the yellow pinpricks of thousands of stars, they lay side by side, holding hands. He had his arms around her as she cuddled into him, to ward off the cold. His breath danced on the cold wind in front of their faces as they laughed at the funny shapes amongst the stars.

Oh, how he loved her smell. Apple and spice. The way it tickled his nose and made his eyes water when he got real close. How he'd go home each night smelling of her; feeling sad when he had to wash it off. He could lie there forever, smelling her, looking into her eyes.

She had beautiful, huge round eyes, full of emotion. He felt he could get lost in their depths forever, but he dare not look away from their mystical beauty. He also loved her smile, how it lit up her face and showed off her sexy red lips. They were so soft and warm. He would trace them with his fingers and make her laugh just to see that smile once more.

But now it was time to say goodbye and let her move on. No matter how much he tried he couldn't warm her. The light had dissapered from her cheeks and lips. He looked into her eyes, no more did he fear of getting lost amongst their beauty. They were now cold and glass like, full of emptyness.

They stood up and began to walk slowly among the tombstones. Finally they stopped in front of a newly dug grave, fresh dirt piled ontop. He turned to face his love, his equal, and kissed her one last time. But it was like trying to kiss ice. He pulled back in pain. Why was he denied this last kiss, this last intimate goodbye? He looked up into her face and saw that she was asking the same thing, one silent tear rolling down her cheek.

Without warning or looking back, she turned away and walked towards the new grave. He watched on as the only good thing that had ever happened to him dissapered into the grave, leaving him alone to wait for the day when he would be, finally, once again with his girl.
