Argentina got its independence from Spain in 1816. It went to internal struggles until 1853, when it finally got its constitution. But democracy didn't really start until the XX century, with Hipólito Yrigoyen in the first decade of the century. Until him, presidents committed fraud to arrive to the presidency. But democracy didn't last and it alternated with military governments until 1983.
