A device/program that sequentially moves a pattern of notes on a synthesizer, over the keyboard's range. The pattern type usually varies depending on the order/relationship of the notes pressed.
Most arpeggiators have several modes for different note orders, typical ones being up, down and random. The speed of the sequence is user adjustable.
