On October 28, 1906, a three-car train of the Pennsylvania Railroad's newly inaugurated electric service from Camden plunged from a drawbridge as it neared Atlantic City. Apparently, the rails on the drawbridge were not in proper alignment. Among the 40 dead were seven members of the Italian Royal Artillery Band.

(this is one of the New Jersey disasters)
