Also known as QNB. A hallucinogenic compound, namely: 3-quinuclidinyl benzillate.

Synthesis of BZ is fairly straightforward (for chem majors, at least). Just esterify 3-quinuclidinol with benzillic acid.

BZ is an anticholinergic, which acts specifically on muscarinic receptors. It has an especially high LD50/ED50 ratio, when compared to other antimuscarinics such as atropine or scopolamine. For unknown reasons, BZ trips tend to possess nightmarish qualities, and can last up to 72 hours.

BZ was featured in the film Jacob's Ladder, which revolved around the survivor of a BZ experiment in the Vietnam War, who was forced later in life to deal with horrifying hallucinatory manifestations of his inner demons.
