The
911 call facilities for
Baltimore County,
Maryland are located in the new
court house in
Towson, MD off
Chesapeake Ave. The emergency services area is divided into three sections, the
911 call center in the center, and the
Baltimore County Fire Department and
Baltimore County Police Department dispatchers on either side of that room. All
dispatches are sent from where they arrive to the people who need them electronically by operators through console sessions an
AIX-based
X windows system. In some cases units may be dispatched directly through an
MDT in their
units. There are a minimum of 11 staff on duty at any time of the day or night, with the ability to expand to a much higher number when
storms or other
disasters pass through the area. Also located near the center are the
underground facilities of the
Baltimore County EOC.
