Another name for matzo, the unleavened bread eaten during the Jewish holiday of Pesach (Passover). When the Children of Israel fled from slavery in Egypt, they did not have time to let their bread rise. So they baked it in the sun, in flat wafers. Today, Jews do not eat any leavened bread during the seven day holiday, to commemorate the flight of their ancestors.
