The Camera Mouse was
developed at
Boston College from
technology that came from their
Eagle Eyes system. The
Camera Mouse allows severly
disabled individuals to operate a
computer using
movements of any
body part. The
system is composed of
specialized tracking software and a
camera and
video capture card that is able to
capture full motion video (30 frames per second). The
camera is
focused on the
feature that is to be
tracked and then the software is
enabled. The
software uses
computer vision techniques to
interpret the
video input and move the
mouse pointer the appropriate distance on the
screen.
