A set of films made in Britain in the 1960s and 1970s, featuring a regular cast of characters in a variety of situations characterised by smutty jokes, risqué behaviour and awful puns. Hugely popular in the UK, an attempt was made to resurrect the genre in the 1990s with the release of Carry On Columbus, but the film was a box-office failure and there have been no further plans to continue the series.
