Beth Orton's 1999 release on Arista. Here's the low down:

Songs on Central Reservation

Stolen Car
Sweetest Decline
Couldn't Cause Me Harm
So Much More
Pass in Time
Central Reservation (original version)
Stars All Seem To Weep
Love Like Laughter
Blood Red River
Devil Song
Feel To Believe
Central Reservation (The Then Again Version)

Ms. Orton is excellent, a sleek british soul, mumbling and soaring. Feels to me like she's singing to herself, alone, the audience in its own space somewhere else. Guest work on this cd include Ben Harper on electric guitar for "Stolen Car" and "Love Like Laughter", Terry Callier doing background vocals for "Pass in Time" and Dr. John on piano for "Sweetest Decline". If you like Cat Power, Kristin Hersh, Radiohead or maybe Cowboy Junkies, or if you have good sense, spend your time wisely -listen to this women.
