Depending on what part of Virginia you're from, this can mean one of two things.

If you're from Richmond, it means the Richmond-Petersburg area, including:

Or, if you're from the Lynchburg area, it means roughly the U.S. 29 corridor between Lynchburg and Charlottesville. This is probably the more geographically correct of the two choices, but the Richmond definition seems to dominate outside the state, probably because Lynchburg's only national notoriety comes as home of Jerry Falwell and Liberty University.
