Founded in 1865 by William Booth and Catherine Booth in London, England. When it started it made its focus those whom normal churches did not reach. The poor, the addicted, the prositutes and those that society deemed lesser than the normal.
The Christian Mission changed its name to the Salvation Army in 1878 to better adopt is growing military style and feel. |
