I wish the whole deal was that simple
psydereal.
Abortion is alright, under certain circumstances. Let's see it this way. Is it OK to kill an innocent fetus, just for the sake of it? If it doesn't threaten the life or welfare of the mother, is abortion still moral? I think not. Whereas in capital punishment, the condemned have been proven guilty, by a court of law. While I'm sure all those people are claiming that they're innocent, do those liberals even give a thought on the welfare of the fetus? No. Because they can't see it? If that is the reason, why do they care so much about a murderer, or a rapist, locked away on death row? They can't see them either.
Whereas I am for the legalization of certain drugs that are relatively harmless, there are some drugs that must be regulated. Comparing guns to drugs is not too correct, because some drugs are addictive. You can't get addicted to firearms (no, this is not the Simpsons), but you can get hooked to crack, heroin, and countless other drugs. In that case, the issue of responsibility, a cornerstone in the gun control argument, becomes irrelevant. Whereas I strongly disagree with some government actions against both guns and drugs, the link between those two doesn't really make that much sense.
And yes, I agree. Politics is often full of shit. Parties and platforms are often for convenience's sake. See also What the American people want politics to be.
