The Diet of Speyer, 1526 was a successful one for the Lutherans. Charles V was preoccupied with Turks pushing into Hungary and yet again threatening the boundaries of his Empire.

The Diet was divided between Catholics and Protestants on most issues but the Charles V and the Catholics were forced to give in as Charles needed troops to fight the Turks. This lead to a deal being made where the Lutheran Princes offered troops to Charles in exchange for tolerance or their faith.
