Empty Bottle

Daughter Bright cries as the sun goes down,
For what happened behind the scenes,
Although I merely tried to stand my ground,
She pinned the gravest charge on me.

And in love's absence she grows discontent,
Gives herself away just to be had,
In her defense she cries 'Experience',
She's tempted fate and won't look back.

Empty bottle to drown out this sound,
The smoke does well to cloud my eyes,
Beats her heart in the Siren's song of my Sister Star,
Silken kiss on the wind that roams the night.

Another candle burns to mark the day,
Hardened wax veins on her sill, her testament profound,
In the sound of the storm she drifts away,
But the rain hides her tears as the sun goes down.

And in love's absence she grows discontent,
Gives herself away just to be had,
In her defense she cries 'Experience',
She's tamed the fates and won't look back.

Empty bottle to drown out this sound,
The smoke does well to cloud my mind,
Beats her heart in the Siren's song of my Sister Star,
Shuffle through photographs held up to the light.
