Punk rock record label created by Bad Religion in 1980 as a logo to put on their records so it'd look like they were actually signed to a label. Bad Religion remained the only band on the label in the early 80s, until Brett Gurewitz decided to make it into a real label around 1986 (as the band was reuniting to record Suffer). It quickly become the largest of the indie punk labels, and made a ton of money as The Offspring and Rancid became platinum-selling bands. Other bands that are on or have been on Epitaph include Pennywise, NOFX, Ten Foot Pole, DFL, the Descendents, Down by Law, and New Bomb Turks. www.epitaph.com
