Friend of John von Neumann, Hungarian Eugene Wigner studied chemical engineering and then went into quantum physics, specifically space-time symmetry. Conceived the Manhattan Project; sometimes called the father of nuclear engineering, he Berlin in 1933 and moved permanently to Princeton.
Nobel Prize for physics, 1963.
