Sadly, I no longer live in this great little town in Northern California, just north of San Francisco. Although I was only 11 years old when i moved away to Seattle in 1995, i remember that the 7,000 people living in Fairfax were very kind people with a sort of hippie mentality. I wish that this town would stay unknown and avoid the yuppy craze of California, but alas, there is land development partaking as a write this. What a shame. I'll have to enjoy it while it lasts.
Fairfax is in Marin County. It was the former home of Janis Joplin. The creator of the mountain bike, Gary Fischer lives here. The Steve Miller Band lived here before they got famous.
