| The right for a magazine or other periodical publishing entity to publish an author's work in one of its volumes. The author restricts the publisher to publish the work one time only; and that the work may be published in North America, only. If the publisher wants to reprint, or to publish the work internationally, the author must be paid again.
I presume that there are other terms that are used outside of the United States; but this one is pretty popular in the US. |
