A weekly comic strip that began in 1989 which appears in a street press magazine called Inpress that is published in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. What makes it special is that it is distinctly Melbourne based and the events depicted in the strip reflect what has happened around the pubs in St Kilda, the live music scene in Melbourne and the footy for that week.
Another thing that makes the strip popular is that it contains plenty of nudity, sex and violence and sets out to offend - It is famous for it's "spot the twat" feature each week. It has been the subject of at least two obscenity charges and a libel suit.
The strip began featuring St Kilda locals and characters created by the author but the more recent strips I have seen (from last year onwards) feature more well known locals, celebrities and regulars on the local music scene.
The first two years of the Pub strip have been published in book form and are available to buy at a shop called Polyester Books on Brunswick Street in Fitzroy.
Fred has also started drawing another strip called "Wise Old Beer Pig" which can only be seen behind a glass case in the George Public Bar in St Kilda (he does it on Thursday afternoons.)
I have been drawn and mentioned in the strip several times, but I put my foot down after the last time and he hasn't mentioned me again.
