A gigabyte is 1024 MB (megabytes), or 1,073,741,824 bytes.

Update: As of mid-2001 the Maxi-GB hypermarket sites have been rebranded as Carrefour stores; not sure if this is a full takeover of the Biggs group or a sale of that side of the business. The GB brand and the red circle trademark which have graced cycling vests and football pitch advertising for many years live on only at the smaller Super GB franchise stores.
In Italian, the normal form of initials used for the forename Giambattista (Giovanni Battista), "John the Baptist".
