Coined by Chris Bieniek in his reviews for Video Games and Computer Entertainment back before even Wolfenstein 3D, a "Guy Game" is any video game in which the player controls some guy who runs, jumps and shoots his way through a scrolling, tiled world in order to reach some goal. Bieniek reported, quite truthfully at the time, that all guy games contain the best and latest in graphics and sound, because they had to disguise the fact that they were basically identical. Guy Games are now more commonly known as Platform Games
