Human ecology is a synthetic field of study that aims at a systematic understanding of human behavior
Human ecologists are united by three ideas: (1)that human interactions with their environment are important, (2) that understanding human behavior is necessarily a cross-disciplinary venture, and (3) that theory from the general fields of ecology and evolutionary biology are fundamental to the study of the special case of humans.
