I-820 is a "loop" freeway that circles Fort Worth, Texas. It originates (or ends, depending on your perspective) in southeast Fort Worth, close to the junction of I-20 and US-287. From this point, the highway progresses northwards through eastern Fort Worth and Hurst. In Hurst, I-820 intersects with SH-121 (Airport Freeway) and loops towards the west. It runs through North Richland Hills and Haltom City before re-entering Fort Worth. Here, the highway intersects with I-35W, then bends towards the southwest. I-820 then crosses over a causeway traversing Lake Worth (giving travelers a good view of Carswell AFB) before connecting with I-30 in the city of White Settlement. Finally, the highway enters Benbrook, where it rejoins I-20.

I-820 is part of the Eisenhower Interstate System. It serves as a major artery connecting the rapidly-growing suburbs to the west and north of Fort Worth. Unfortunately, certain areas have grown faster than the freeway can accomodate, most notably the stretch between I-35W and SH-121. Here, I-820 narrows from four lanes to two, often causing major delays during rush hour.
