Jan"sen*ist, n. [F. Jans'eniste.] Eccl. Hist.

A follower of Cornelius Jansen, a Roman Catholic bishop of Ypres, in Flanders, in the 17th century, who taught certain doctrines denying free will and the possibility of resisting divine grace.
