He was a 16 year from Larvik, Norway when he wrote DeCSS and then put it up and his website. He was taken into custody for seven hours but never imprisoned by the Norwegian police. He also helped start MoRE (Masters of Reverse Engineering) which he has said helped with DeCSS. I've seen websites with his picture displayed in a Tiger Beat tenny-bopper ways (http://216.110.42.176/image/950-10/jon-johansen-3.html) and Wired called him the "Helen of Troy of the hacking world". Regardless, he will be in the history books when it comes to copyright issues and the internet.
