Some people don't learn. Others attempt to teach them the correct way to do a thing and they fail - because of stubborness or stupidity - to grasp the concept. Some have a legitimate disability, but most are simply and mysteriously dense. With these cases, it becomes easier to supply the correct answer or resource than to school them in the method for attaining it themselves. To try and do otherwise causes intense frustration and, one could argue, puts the teacher in the same category as his or her student.
