Fiction writer, Kazuo Ishiguro was born in Nagasaki, Japan, in 1954 and moved to Britain in 1960. He attended the University of Kent at Canterbury and the University of East Anglia. He now lives in London. He is well known for his novel, The Remains of the Day, which delves into the mind of the faithful butler, Stevens, who has dedicated his life to serving Lord Darlington. He has to come to terms with the knowledge that his master may have been a pawn for the Nazi party. More interestingly, he confronts the sad reality of the insular life he lead as a butler all these years. An excellent book which was reasonably well adapted into a movie with Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson. The Remains of the Day won the Booker Prize in 1989. Other works of his include:
