La Grande vitesse is the symbol of the City of Grand Rapids, but most people in GR call it The Calder. It is a stabile that was made by Alexander Calder in 1969. As a person who was new to GR put it, it is "that big ugly orange thing." Actually it's not orange, it's Calder Red. I think it kind of looks like an eagle (like on the back of a quarter), but I don't think it's supposed to look like anything.
