I could do it for you too, if that's what you wanted, if that's what it takes. There's no reason we have to have this love. Because if it's a question of who really loves you, I'm up to that challenge. I'll fight, on the terms of that other love I'm excluded from, if necessary.
And so I promise you will see nothing but happiness in my eyes, even when I throw you down the stairs and even when I've beaten you so hard you throw up, I will be there stroking your hair and whispering, "Baby, don't you leave." You'll never have to consider that you may be wrong, I'll agree with anything (but remember that if you wrong me you won't receive an explanation when I beat the shit out of you). I can do all that for you, if it means you love me like that.
But those are the terms. From then on, no one can say you spend too much time wrapped up in the stupor of the intangibles I'll give you. You have to walk out on anyone who questions for a second, because it's your decision and anyone who tries to change you is the enemy. That's the deal. I'll give you bliss if you give me your complete submission.
It won't be hard to pay the piper, when the time comes. You can place the blame elsewhere, because I'd never hurt you (remember that I'm the one who loves you. the only one). Only those times when you lie in my arms long enough to stink and stumble. The next morning, it'll be like it never happened and you'll wake up to the coccoon of blind love once again.
And if that's not what you want me to be, I suppose I understand. You found that love a long time ago. What do you need me for? |
