Michael Dammann Eisner is currently (2004) the head of Walt Disney.
Born on March 7, 1942, Eisner attended Denison University, from which he graduated in 1964. He worked at the American Broadcasting Company initially, and later Paramount. In 1984, he left for Walt Disney, whhich he has been heading ever since.
In 2003, Roy Edward Disney, the son of Disney's founder, left Disney, saying Eisner was essentially destroying the company. In 2004, Eisner was replaced as chairman by George Mitchell, largely due to Roy Disney's urgings the company's shareholders to depose him.
An anecdote from his days at Paramount: Back when they were making Star Trek III: The Search For Spock. He was reluctant to let Leonard Nimoy direct it because he thought that Nimoy had wanted Spock killed in the last movie. Once he learned the truth he gladly gave Nimoy the job. |
