| A polymer in the aramid class, consisting of carbon rings linked by amide (peptide for biologists) linkages. It has advantageous properties such as flame resistance, heat resistance, and chemical stability. It is expensive to produce, and therefore only used in specialist applications, such as in space suits, firefighting equipment, and other areas where high heat resistance is important. |
