A longtime session drummer who played the skins for Mr. Mister in the 1980s. His first significant gig after that (other than a brief period with XTC) was playing drums on an album by David Sylvian and Robert Fripp. When Fripp reformed King Crimson in late 1993, Mastelotto was called in to be the second drummer in the Double Trio, alongside the godlike Bill Bruford. Mastelotto is more of a groove-based drummer than Bruford, and his playing reflects this.
