People scurry
like squirrels
across the street
I swerve to dodge them
One of these days,
I might like to join them.
Mindlessly wandering,
hardly pondering
where their pointless lives may lead
back
and
forth
they
walk
hopeless, helpless, heartless
Tires squealing, heads reeling
their trivial thoughts make but
a trivial stain on the pavement.
