Forerunner of
punk rock, having some (or many) of the characteristics of what was to come.
Iggy Pop and his band The
Stooges, for example. Their fellow
Michiganders The
MC5 as well. Many
Nuggets 60's punk or
garage bands would fit&this definition: the
13th Floor Elevators, The Standells,
The Seeds... One might even include
Bob Dylan, whose voice, in his folkie and "gone electric" days, could have been the model upon which
Johnny Rotten's fine whine was built.
