- When the family's cat Picky-Picky died, and Beezus and Ramona buried him by themselves so their mother, who was pregnant, wouldn't be upset
- Ramona decides to run away, and, to her dismay, her mom helps her pack. Her mother makes the contents of the suitcase too heavy as a message that she wants Ramona to stay
(It surprises me that I remember these after 14+ years)
