Also known as Route 123, San Pablo Avenue is a four lane road that runs along the east bay (San Francisco bay, people) going north-south. For those that were asleep in geography, San Francisco is at the entrance to a bay, in the north-middle coast of California, which is in turn in the United States.

There are various accounts of the history of the road, at one point it was supposed to have been part of Route 1, which went coast to coast, and was also part of US 40, which also ran across the country, through Sacramento, to points east. Today, however, it ends in Crockett. Thanks to Ereneta for correcting my earlier mistake, thinking it still went to Sacramento, that was based on 40-year old information.

  • The nearest In and Out Burger to the East Bay
  • Also the nearest Krispy Kreme
  • As you may tell from the previous Points of Interest, Pinole is pretty much a strip mall/chain store town. I recommend avoiding it.
  • Note: neither of these points are actually on San Pablo Avenue, but I thought they were worth mentioning.

  • Means "The leftovers" in Spanish
  • Is the hometown of Primus
• San Pablo
  • Hookers.
• Richmond
  • Home of Hilltop Mall, a god-forsaken megaplex of consumerism. Good place to get shoes, though.
  • Spice One, the east bay's most OG gangsta rappers, hail from Richmond. I recommend their song "Strap on the Side"
• El Cerrito
  • Means "The Little Hill" in Spanish.
  • The Nation's Hamburgers is open 24 hours, and has good pie, in addition to other things. Good hash browns, too.
• Albany
  • Al's Big Burger
  • Albany Bowl
• Berkeley
  • Good Vibrations, a "clean, well lit place for porn" (and toys, et cetera).
• Oakland
  • The Oakland Greyhound station.
  • Note: this is West Oakland, notorious bad neighborhood.
