At the beginning of the game, you place your pieces on your half of the board as you please, according to the rules below.  Neither player sees the other's pieces until both have set them up.

The following restrictions apply:

• Each Pawn must be placed on a different file (vertical line), and Pawns may not be placed on the first rank (horizontal line).
• Your Bishops must be placed on different colored squares.
• No castling
• No en passant captures
• Otherwise, once game play begins, the rules are the same as in regular chess.
