Currently, the most famous Seamus is probably Seamus Heaney, the Irish poet who won the Nobel Prize in 1995.

Seamus is pronounced "SHAY-mus" and in its Irish form, is spelled Séamus. It is the Irish form of James, which in turn is the English form of Jacob (see also: Shamus), which finally comes from the Hebrew name Ya'akov. Another form of this name is spelled Séamas.
