A phrase used to denote overoptimistic desperation measures. Taken from the excellent Die Hard, when the hapless SWAT commander, rather than pull his men back under overwhelming automatic weapons fire from the Nakatomi Building, instead decides to commit his armored vehicle. He is seen with teeth gritted, muttering into his mic "Send in the car. Send in the car."

This phrase is useful when the code you've been working on all night blows memory chunks during a test run, and your boss is watching over your shoulder (having just arrived from a nice, refreshing night's sleep) and wants to know when it will be ready. Geeks usually know that when another geek utters this phrase, everyone should just edge back a meter or two for safety's sake - after all, we all know what happened to the car in the film, don't we?
