Standing alone
In fields of silence
I close my eyes
And ponder, what is
The meaning of science
The blackness of magnets
Whose uneasy guidance
Leads down the path
Of quieting knowledge
There is no defiance
Cause and effect
In careful compliance
No chance, to dance
No music to sing
Not a whisper's defiance
The balance of logic
Whose placid steel judgements
May never they tip
To lightness or magic
Never defiance
That this world exists
In open defiance
Of all that I know
When I open my eyes
Could this be the meaning of science.
