The "cattle" thing, as such, seems to be more to do with using your image to impress other people - i.e. other "non-conformists" who will be impressed by your stand against the current fashions. It isn't your opinion of fashion, it's your acknowledgement of it.

Maybe it's a better thing to just completely ignore fashion in relation to your own clothing.
