"We don't
speak words,
words speak us!" Among the
mantras of the
post-modern, deconstructionist
school of thought. The idea is that there is no real
meaning attached to anything we say, and the words are
autonomous in and of themselves, and define who we are. For example, "
good" and "
evil" are merely labels we attach to things, and do not represent any kind of
absolute truth. Something is good simply because we call it good, and evil simply because we call it evil.
